God placed a verse on my heart this week, that I have not been able to get off my mind. Although I don’t normally share in this format, I felt I just had to stop and share this teaching with you.Are you facing a situation today that seem impossible? It may be a health issue, or a problem in your marriage or even an issue in your finances. The more we look at it, the more we feel overwhelmed and can’t imagine how you are going to get through it.
If you are facing an impossible situation today, let me remind you that the God you serve is the God of the impossible.
The Impossible God of the Bible
As you look through the Bible, you find impossible situations where God did the impossible on behalf of his people.
When God spoke to an elderly couple that they were to have a son, it was an impossible situation. The wife actually laughed when she heard the promise from the angel. However, when God makes a promise, He keeps it. And even though Abraham and Sarah were way past the days of childbearing, God did the impossible and gave them a son.
When a young shepherd boy showed up on the battlefield, he stepped into an impossible situation. How could this young boy fight against a well-trained warrior who happened to be giant? The God of the impossible made the impossible; possible. God guided David’s smooth stone, and it landed a death blow to the giant Goliath.
When God spoke to a fugitive sheepherder that he was to go and speak to the most powerful leader of his day and demand he release thousands of slaves, it was an impossible situation. But God put the pressure on Pharaoh until he released the children of God from oppression.
And when that same group of people faced an impossible situation with charging army behind them and swollen river before them, the God of the impossible parted the waters and made a way through the depths.
I could go on and on, but I think you get the picture. Again, and again, God did the impossible to protect, provided and empower His people.
Ephesians 3:20 is a powerful verse for those of us facing impossible situations.
Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we can ask or think, according to the power that works within us, to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations forever and ever. Amen.
This verse is about abundant provision. The God of the impossible is the God of abundance. He’s the overflowing God.
God wants to do beyond what you can ask or think.
But look at that verse again. It’s not all you can ask or think, but beyond all you can ask or think.
It’s not just beyond all you can ask or think, but abundantly beyond all you can ask or think.
And it’s not just abundantly beyond all you can ask or think, it’s more abundantly beyond all you can ask or think.
And just to make sure we didn’t miss the point, Paul adds one more.
It’s not just more abundantly beyond all we can ask or think, it’s far more abundantly beyond all we can ask or think.
Are you getting the picture? The God you serve wants to do far more abundantly beyond anything you can even imagine.
In another word, you can’t even comprehend all the incredible things God wants to do in your life.
Too often we develop a “get by” mentality. It is scarcity thinking, not abundant thinking. We don’t really expect God to do the impossible for us. Our best hope is to just get by or get through whatever we are facing.
The Abundant God
However, our God is a god of abundance.
In John 10:10 Jesus said, I have come that you might have life and have it abundantly.
Jesus didn’t promise life; He promised abundant life. Life far more abundantly beyond all we could ask or think.
Right now, if your problem is too big for you to handle, it’s just about the right size for the God of the impossible.
Are you expecting too little of God?
Are your prayers based in a “get by” mentality or an “abundance” mentality?
If God wants to do far more abundantly beyond all that you can ask or think, what are asking?
Are you asking great things from a great God, or little things from a small God?
Are you asking with an expectation of the God of the impossible to do the impossible, or you just hoping to get by?
Why not bring that impossible situation you’re facing to the throne room of the God who loves the impossible?
Maybe it’s time to remember just how big your God is, and that He wants to bless you beyond your understanding.=
What you are facing today, maybe the impossible. The good news is that you serve the God of the impossible. What God did for His followers throughout the Bible, He wants to do for you today.
Bring that impossible situation to Him today, in faith, knowing what He has done for others; He will do for you..
Let me pray for you.
Father, thank you that you are the God of the impossible. Thank you that you want to do far more abundantly beyond all we can ask or think in our lives. I pray for my brother or sister who is facing an impossible situation today. Work in their life to bring about the impossible. Remind them today that you are with them and you love them more than they could ever imagine. Father be the God of the impossible in their impossible situation today.
In Jesus Name,
Amen
