Today we are praying for our nation’s leaders. Our President, Vice President, and other national leaders have a significant impact on our nation’s culture. They can move a country back toward God, or remove God from the national conversation.

In 1 Timothy Paul encourages us to pray for our leaders.

First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way.
1 Timothy 2:1-2 (ESV)

We may not always agree with our leaders, but we are commanded to pray for them. As Christians, We may disagree on politics, but we can all agree that our national leaders need our prayer.

Here are five prayer topics we can agree on for our national leaders.

1. Wisdom – The Bible promises God’s wisdom to all who will ask. Let’s pray our President and other congressional leaders seek God’s wisdom in the decisions they make.

2. Humility – The humble leader will seek advice from others. God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble. (James 4:6) A proud person will never seek the Lord, let’s pray our leaders will to bow their knee to the Lord and seek His direction.

3. Spiritual Counsel – Every leader has those people who speak into their life. Pray our leaders have individuals who will encourage them to seek the Lord and create policies that align with Biblical truth.

4. Personal Spiritual Awakening – Imagine what might happen in our country if our leaders experienced personal revival. Let’s agree together asking God to bring about revival on Capitol Hill.

5. Protection – The Christians on Capitol Hill are often attacked for their faith in Christ. Vice President Pence has made a firm stand of his faith in Christ and has suffered great criticism. Let’s pray protection over all those who are Christians and serve our country.

Let’s Pray:

Father as we agree in prayer this morning, we pray for our national leaders. Thank You for allowing us to live in a country where we are free to worship You without fear or worry. Thank You for those who have sacrificed everything to ensure our freedom.
Today, we come to You praying for our national leaders. We pray for our President, Vice President, and congressional leaders. We pray You will give them supernatural wisdom for the decisions they will have to make today. Let them seek Your wisdom in everything they do.

Father, we pray for a new sense of humility in our leaders. Keep them from a proud heart that refuses to seek after You. We pray they will bow their knee in humility and seek Your face.

Lord, we know there are those who have the ear of our leaders. We pray that You surround them with people who will give them wise counsel. Father, bring wise spiritual counsel to President Trump and Vice President Pence.

Finally, Father, we pray for a spirit of revival to break out on Capitol Hill. Reveal Yourself to our leaders and let them see their need of You. For those who are Christians, we pray for protection from the enemy. Protect them from attack and discouragement in Jesus name.

We ask all this and agree together in Jesus name, Amen.
